finder crashes on external network

Hi Guys,

I've installed the newest MacOs venture on my new Apple M1 Max macbook.

At work we work on a external server which is connected trough a ethernet cable trough a adapter.

Once in a hour Finder crashes when i try to delete/move files on this server. I have to reboot my Macbook and everything is working fine....

Any suggestions which can fix this problem?

Kind regards,

Nick

Hello NickCoers,

To resolve the issue with Finder closing unexpectedly, let's complete the steps listed here: If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support that are also below.

"1. Quit and reopen the app

Quit the app, then open it again. If the app won't quit, force the app to quit. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

2. Restart your Mac

Restart your Mac. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

3. Check for updates

To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, then click Updates. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your Mac. Or if you didn't get the app from the App Store, look for updates to the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

4. Reinstall the app

Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. If you didn't get the app from the App Store, redownload the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed."

Best regards.

Hi NickCoers,

To help us get a better understanding of the issue, we’d like to ask a few questions.

1. Does the issue only happen when trying to move files now?

2. When the issue happens, do you receive a specific error message? If so, what does the error say?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

If you experience issues when trying to move files, please check out the information in this link, as it may help with that issue: If you can’t move or copy an item on Mac

1. On your Mac, select the item, then choose File > Get Info, or press Command-I.
2. Click the arrow  next to Sharing & Permissions to expand the section.
3. Click the pop-up menu next to your user name to see the permissions settings.
If you’re not logged in as an administrator, you may need to click the lock  to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password (or use Touch ID or your Apple Watch).

4. Change the permissions to either Read & Write or “Read only.”

If you need to, also change the permissions for the location where you want to put the item.

If you can’t change the permissions, contact an administrator of your Mac or the owner of the file or folder.

Thanks!
