Hello helcha26,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you've noticed the calendar is running in the background, and you're looking to stop this, right?

If we have that correct, let's first confirm that you have the latest iOS version installed on your iPhone 14 Pro. If an update is available, installing this may clear up what's occurring. Be sure you have a recent backup of your iPhone prior to installing this, and you can find helpful steps here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you have the latest iOS version, let's check which calendar accounts you have added with your iPhone. This will allow you to know which calendar accounts are in use to figure out which may be having a problem syncing data. Take a look at the following steps for assistance with checking which accounts are in use, and you can locate more details here: Set up multiple calendars on iPhone - Apple Support

See multiple calendars at once

To view multiple calendars, tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen, then do any of the following:

• Select the calendars you want to view.

• Tap US Holidays to include national holidays with your events.

• Tap Birthdays to include birthdays from Contacts with your events.

If you see a calendar account that you no longer use, feel free to remove it to see if that clears this up. In addition, check which accounts may not be syncing the data correctly and let us know what you find. We'll use these details to see how we can further assist with clearing this up.

Take care!

helcha26,

Thanks for getting back to us.

It sounds like this is a completely different issue. If you aren't able to tap on Get Help and set up your Emergency Contacts as described here: Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone, we'd recommend restarting your iPhone. This can resolve minor issues.

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

If you are on iOS 16.1.1, you should update to iOS 16.1.2 to rule out any of these issues being related to an outdated iOS. Here's how: Update your iPhone or iPad.

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now."

Let us know how that goes.

Have a fantastic day!

Hello. I am still having issues with the calendars running in the background using up the battery. When I attempt to delete a calendar, my phone freezes and I have to turn it off and then back on. I am not happy with my new iPhone 14 Pro and I am considering taking it back for a 13 model. This is getting ridiculous with the battery dying with no use. Should I take it to an Apple store? It is about 40 miles so I hesitate during these shopping season. I did update to iOS 16.1.2 and that error message "get help during an emergency" never moved. Still there. As I am writing this my phone battery went to 99%. I am not using it - writing from my PC.

Do I have a defective phone??
