FCPX rened files

How to prevent FCPX to generate hi–quality media during file render? I edit short video and FCPX generates hundreds of GB of rendered file chocking my memory.

I unchecked:

"background render", "Create optimized media for multycam clips", in playbacks,

"balance color", "Create optimized media", "Create Proxy media", "Fix audio problems" in Import

and still see FPCX generating tons of files.

It's odd that FCP would still be generating render files in the background with that preference disabled. Are you using Optical Flow?

Have you tried resetting FCP prefs? Hold option and command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences... FCP will open the default Untitled library. Set the prefs back to the way you like (disable background rendering, set leave files in place, etc.). Reopen the library you were working on, and then as Tom says, select the library in the browser and choose File->Delete Generated Library Files... Make note of the library size before and after deleting.

Yes, I do it every 20-30 min and see that FPCX generate them again.

I agree, that It needs them, but to generate 400GB of rendered files for 5GB .mov final video seems like an overkill.

I used FCPX for the last ~8 years, and never saw this problem before I installed new version 10.6.4 to new computer and started new project.
