Apple Music and iTunes

Hello, new Apple and Apple Music user here. I have however used iTunes on Windows to load locally stored music files to my iPad for quite a while now. Now that I have purchased an Apple Music subscription, I'd like to know if Apple Music will "correct" the metadata in my music files after uploading to apple music and syncing? I have several thousand music files with messed up or sometimes missing metadata (title, album, artist, track number, album art etc). I would prefer a situation where once I upload, apple will "recognize" the songs and update the metadata to the proper versions. Does this happen? If not, what are my options for making sure my imported music comes over with correct and Hugh quality metadata?
