iPad Pro Screen of Death-Yikes!

When I shut down my iPad Pro 12.9", many times (not all the time) it won't start up the next time I use it. Screen is completely black. Dead as a doornail. I've tried the force restart (vol. up/vol. down/ hold power button. This works, but is this a known problem and is there a permanent fix for this issue? It's happening more frequently now. The most used software on this device is Procreate.

Hello Roy_G_Biv2,

It sounds like your iPad Pro will not turn on with normal turning on procedures after you've shut it off and you will have to force restart it, right?

Which iPadOS version are you using on the device? Have you tried to update the iPad? If not, you can look at the steps to do that here:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

If you continue to encounter the same behavior, contact Apple Support.

Regards.
