calls using wifi assist keep getting dropped

For the past 3 months when using Wi-Fi assist in my house my phone kept dropping calls & when that would happen, I couldn’t call out or receive calls for several minutes.

Was told by both Verizon & Apple it was likely bcs my phone was older (my phone which was XR). So I just got the 14 pro & am STILL having this issue (grr!).

I just saw on the Forbes iOS 16 review that other folks have been having the same issue. Wondering if anyone on this site has this issue & came up with a solution?

With my XR I had tried hard resets, soft resets, turning airplane mode on & off, updating to the latest iOS, resetting the network settings & nothing helped. Don’t know what to say about my new phone having the same issue. I work from home so this is more than an annoyance. No one else in the house is having this problem.

Hello chrysalis101,

Wi-Fi assist should automatically switch your device between cellular and Wi-Fi if you have a poor connection. This feature is explained at length here: About Wi-Fi Assist - Apple Support

This should not affect your ability to make or receive calls, so if that behavior continues we recommend following all guidance listed on the following support page. If the issue continues at that time it will be necessary to continue working with your carrier or Apple Support in your region: If you can't make or receive calls on your iPhone - Apple Support

Regards.
