Airpods Pro 2 making cracking noise when unlocking iphone

The problema is when I unlock the iPhone I hear a static/ cracking sound. This problem happens very random, sometimes happens receiving notifications ( iphone is muted), but often happens when I unlock the iphone ( not everytime, but very often). I guess it is the software ( iOS16) issues, but the recently Apple updates doesn't solve this problem. I see online there are lot of people complaining about this issue, but not sure if Apple is aware of it.

This is very annoying. Any one here with this problem?

Hey yi_jerry,

Which iOS version is your iPhone currently running? The latest version of iOS out right now is version 16.1.2. If you're not running that version, then we recommend you update your device in order to keep your AirPods firmware update as well: Update your iPhone or iPad

Also, you can try resetting your AirPods to see if it helps: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro

If that doesn't help, make sure you also restart your iPhone and check to see if there are any other nearby Bluetooth devices around you: Restart your iPhone

thanks for the reply.

yes, my iPhone is on the latest iOS, and so is my Airpods Pro 2 firmware. But the issue is still there. I also don't think it is interference from other Bluetooth devices nearby because it happens all the time no matter where I am.

I went to the Apple Store and they have no clue about this issue and they replaced my Airpods Pro 2. However, the new Airpods Pro 2 still have the same issue. So I don't think it is a hardware issue. It must be the iOS 16 software issue. Because this problem didn't exist when I use iOS15 with the same iPhone and my old Airpods Pro 1.
