iPhone 14 Pro Max focus issue! Blurring background

Is there anyway to fix the focus?!? This camera literally will focus on the closet object then blur out everything else behind it. I don’t want that, my 11 pro max doesn’t do that. Then if you try and push the screen on the object in the back it will only focus on that and blur the things closer. This should be an option to use not for the standard camera! It’s very frustrating and I am thinking of returning it because it bothers me so much. Is there a way to fix it ?? Am I doing something wrong?!? I just want a regular picture and not all this blurred background stuff. First one is my iPhone 11 Pro Max and 2nd with the blurry background is the 14 pro Max. I thought I was getting an upgrade but this is bad 😢

Hello JazzyJ_021,

If the background is getting blurred when you're taking a picture of a specific object, then it sounds like you have the camera in Portrait mode.

Portrait mode creates a depth-of-field effect that keeps your subject sharp while blurring the background.

You can change the camera mode by swiping left or right on the different options right above the shutter button in the Camera app.

Use camera modes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Cheers!

Unfortunately this is just standard picture mode and not portrait mode. I didn’t like portrait mode for that reason when I used it on the 11 pro max, but now iPhone seems to blur everything. Both of the pictures were taken on the regular/standard photo mode

No matter what I do I can’t focus on two things. Either the close object in the picture will look good and the background is blurry or the opposite.

also can’t even send pictures to android users. I have connected both Apple and Verizon and no solution has been made. Testing was ran and phone and network settings are fine
