iPhone dictation adding random commas after update

When using the iPhone's dictation in a text message, it inserts random comma punctuations into my sentences even if I did not state for a comma to be inserted. The commas being inserted are not grammatically correct, so this does not appear to be as a result of an auto correct function. This began after I upgraded to IO 16. Does anyone know why this is happening?

When I use dictation, I spend several minutes undoing all the random commas because I don’t want to look like a fool. I’ve heard that the new version is oversensitive to pauses. I would much rather ask for a comma than be given seven I didn’t ask for please. Apple please sort this out.

It makes me laugh (sardonically) whenever I have a problem with an Apple computer or phone and I come to the official "discussions.apple.com" website to find the solution, because the exact same thing happens every time -- somebody asks a straightforward question about the exact same problem that I have and then the sadistic Apple "expert" predictably answers their question with a series of super annoying, extremely specific technical questions that makes that person jump through a series of digital hoops to provide information to the expert before they even attempt to answer the question. (And then of course 9 times out of 10 they somehow never manage to actually answer the question, and some random "civilian" actually winds up providing the solution.)

I think I would start crying if I ever saw an "expert" actually answer the question asked with a simple, definitive and forthright solution without first engaging in the passive-aggressive "answer a bunch of my questions first" dance of digital death.

If the experts are such experts, why can't they just try a bunch of stuff on their end and figure out the solution all by themselves? Inquiring minds would like to know.

I have the same issue. I've used dictation for a long time. I don't think it's a glitch. The new OS made dictation sensitive to pauses, and so it puts commas in for you (like the 2 in this sentence), too often. I'd rather not have any commas at all and I'll just dictate them. I prefer it not to put any dictation. I'm so used to saying "period", I'll say it on the phone! I wish I could turn off the predictive punctuation completely.

Settings ==> General ==> Keyboards ==> both Smart Punctuation and Auto-Punctuation turned off with Enable Dictation left on ==> the random commas in my dictations still persist. It seems a little better but definitely has not solved the problem completely. The random commas occur even if I do not pause between words, so it really seems like a glitch in the system.

I also use Dragon/Nuance dictation extensively at work and so am very well versed in "proper dictation technique", so to speak, so I don't think it has to do with the way I am speaking.

Okay, that's good. But even 2 days ago after carefully dictating, I still had to go back through all my dictation to fix multiple commas that substantially changed the meaning of the sentences. There was no reason or rhyme for them, the programming has evidently caused them to be inserted way too often. It makes sentences look like lists of unrelated words. I don't remember having this problem at all until the recent version of iOS.

It does the same with me and it is extremely annoying. It puts commas in ridiculous places like after a first name and before the surname. It puts commas in even when I haven't paused for breath. It also often misses out the first word of the sentence.

Also, it will put the correct word that I have dictated, and then when I'm a bit further down the text I look over what I have already dictated and it's changed some of the words to ones which make no sense. You have to be really careful that you check over what you have dictated before you send it.

Come on, Apple! This is serious!!

If I speak identical phrases into Messages or the Notes app, there wind up being random commas added all over the place. They are not aligned with pauses. As I am dictating this comment, I am finding completely different behavior than exist in the aforementioned apps; I have had to fix four things in this sentence alone.

Have you turned off Smart Punctuation? The directions have been provided.

So Apple, why are you using so many different engines for dictation? It simply makes no sense at all and it is causing millions of users a real pain.
