When using the iPhone's dictation in a text message, it inserts random comma punctuations into my sentences even if I did not state for a comma to be inserted. The commas being inserted are not grammatically correct, so this does not appear to be as a result of an auto correct function. This began after I upgraded to IO 16. Does anyone know why this is happening?

This was annoying me significantly as well, but I just realized you can thankfully manually turn it off by going to settings, general, keyboard and dictation and turning off auto-punctuation. I’m so glad, because it was getting on my last nerve since I used dictation so often and had to “fix” virtually everything I ever dictated.

Dictation will no longer attempt to figure out where you need commas or put in any other punctuation. You'll need to dictate it. "you'll need to dictate it period".
I would suggest that you try turning off Smart Punctuation but leave Auto Punctuation on. If you're still seeing unwanted characters, turn off Auto Punctuation.
You need to specifically disable Settings>General>Keyboard>Keyboards>Smart Punctuation.

Go to Settings>General>Keyboard and turn off Smart Punctuation and Auto-Punctuation.
Workaround: Turn off "Auto-Punctuation" in Keyboards under Settings. (leave "Enable Dictation" on)

is the solution
Settings > General > Keyboard, then turning off Auto-Punctuation.
Easiest solution I could find was to go to settings - general - keyboard and turn off auto punctuation under the dictation section.
Hello everyone. You can turn this function off in settings under keyboard. That is where the auto punctuation setting lives. There is a separate setting for texting and for speech to text.
Settings->General->Keyboards…scroll down to dictation and turn off Auto-Punctuation
Settings ==> General ==> Keyboards ==> both Smart Punctuation and Auto-Punctuation turned off with Enable Dictation left on ==>

I went to settings – general – keyboard, and turned off auto punctuation. Wish I had looked into this sooner. The commas were ridiculous.
Did you also scroll down further and turn off Auto-Punctuation?
Actually there is both. Smart punctuation is under All keyboards, which I also turned off. Auto-Punctuation is under Dictation.
I saw a post that recommended turning auto punctuation off under keyboard in settings and that fixed this irritating problem of misplaced commas.
