new iPad set up

I recently purchased a new iPad. My MacBook pro does not recognize the new iPad. The iPad does not show up in Finder sidebar. Some music and photo's transferred but music loaded to the MacBook from a cd will not load. On the iPad when I select my music library, the music i purchased from iTunes will only play from the cloud via a wifi connection. I'd like to be able to sync my entire music and photo library.

If your iPad is not recognised by your Mac, try using a different USB port and/or data cable. If the problem persists, this support page should help with troubleshooting:

I purchased a new USB-A to USB-C cable and my MacBook pro now recognizes my new iPad but, my music library and photo library will not sync from the MacBook to the iPad. The sync page opens and it appears to sync but not much transfers from either library. In order to load my music library, I have to connect to wifi, open Music, then select each album and tap a download arrow for each and every one. Plus music I loaded onto the MacBook from cd's will not load at all. Any ideas about a solution? Do I have a safe guard in place somewhere?
