Does ultra thin clear screen protector damage MacBook Air M1?

There have been circulating topics regarding MacBook Air M1 or any MacBook that has a retina display isn't recommended to put a screen protector as it will definitely damage the LCD. I am cautious in using my MBA but I hate fingerprints on my screen that I sometimes cannot avoid that's why I installed an ultra-thin screen protector. Other than the screen protector and the hard case, I do not use any accessories.

If a screen protector does damage a MacBook, why does Apple sell screen protection?

Do not use screen protectors. They will damage the screen. And do not put anything between the screen and the keyboard.

Thank you! The provided support articles do not specifically say putting an ultra-thin screen cover/film may harm though. I don't put camera/keyboard/palm covers because they're not as thin as the screen film. But appreciate it!

They also sell new Macs to replace the ones people break by putting things over the screen.
