Apple watch Sleep Screen doesn't activate when Sleep mode activated through shortcut

If you're able to enable sleep mode the normal way, and just have the issue when trying to enable it through a shortcut, then it sounds like the shortcut is causing that behavior. You may want to try deleting and recreating the shortcut you coded.

After yesterdays updates to 16.3 on iOS on iPhone and 9.3 on Apple Watch this seems to be resolved for me.

Got the same issue. But I tried moving shortcut to another folder (in this case, I moved to “starter” folder), and the issue got fixed.

This looks like a bug, I found this conversation because I am facing the same issue. The only workaround for me is to manually disable and re-enable the sleep focus from the watch, after my shortcut has run (which is not ideal of course). I can confirm this issue persists with iOS 16.2 and watchOS 9.2.

I have the same issue.

Manually setting sleep focus turns off the display after about 10 seconds.

Setting sleep focus with a shortcut, automation or by asking Siri to do it only sets the sleep focus but leaves the display turned on.

Its been happening since iOS 16 was released and deleting and recreating any shortcuts or automations makes no difference even now in 16.2 and WatchOS 9.2

I have exactly the same problem. When turning sleep mode on through a shortcut, the watch shows the sleep mode icon, but will not turn off the screen. It will not properly track sleep either. If I manually turn on sleep mode on the iPhone, then everything works well.

Same issue for me, and more critically the watch doesn't track sleep properly either. It's like it claims to be in sleep focus without any of the benefits of actually being in sleep focus. Also glad to know I'm not the only one.

Thanks for the suggestion but I tried this last night but it didn’t resolve the problem for me. It’s still same. Sleep mode turned on but display did not dim on Watch.

Same problem, glad it’s not just me at least! I just bought my first Apple Watch last month and I have to say I’m extremely disappointed by the amount of bugs this thing can deliver.

Ditto for me having this issue. Also tried deleting and recreating the shortcut but it did not fix the problem.

Same for me. I opened another thread but some "apple specialist" answered with a precompiled response without giving any info about how to resolve this problem.

Will this be fixed on wos9.3? Is apple aware of this bug?
