Autofocus issue with iPhone 11

Hi

I have an issue with an iPhone 11's autofocus of the default lens (wide angle)

at a certain distance from text it won't focus - the picture is fuzzy especially around the edges and the phone vibrates. As you move it closer the autofocus kicks in and shows a clear picture then as you move away the issue will re- occur and then at a further distance away it will be fine again.

I have tried cleaning the lens and updating the software first to 15.7.1 then to 16.1.2

and also resetting the device to factory settings.

Apple performed a remote diagnostic check which found no issues with the camera.

Has anyone had a similar issue and was able to find the reason and a possible fix?

Its possible the last user used the device on a motorbike which I understand can cause camera issues for example as mentioned here: Exposure to vibrations, like those generated by high-powered motorcycle engines, might impact iPhone cameras - Apple Support

So it could be an issue with the optical image stabilization (OIS) or the closed-loop autofocus (AF). If someone had one or both of these issues did replacing the camera fix the issue?

Many Thanks

iPhone 11
