Songs not playing in album order on USB flash drive

Having troubles with downloaded music albums that were transferred from iMac(2022) using Apple USB C to USB A cable to a usb flash drive. When I try to play the album on my CD player the songs don't play in the right order. With my previous iMac(2011) never had this problem, wondering if anyone would know if it is related to having to use the cable for USB C to USB A.

The method of transfer is unlikely to be relevant. Typically you need to organize the files on the drive with leading sequence numbers such that an alphabetical sort of file names corresponds to your desired play order. Or you provide a .m3u playlist file to control playback if your device reads them.

It surely seems to be related to the transfer based on all the investigation that I have done. I bought another usb flash drive and transferred over the same files that were previously transfer to a usb flash drive from my 2011 iMac that do play in album order. The same album files now transferred from my new iMac to the usb flash drive do not play in album order. They also do not play in alphabetical order. The albums I am transferring in both cases are .wav files, they are both have been transferred from the original folders downloaded from Hdtracks. When I look at the songs on the album all the tag information looks correct and looks exactly like the files transferred previously. I am using mp3tag editor to look at the ablums/songs.
