Apple Pencil skipping and wiggling

Over the past year, my apple pencil has started skipping (like drawing a straight line and it just won’t draw a portion of it) and wiggling (like drawing a straight line and it will suddenly make bumps even though smoothing and stabilizing is on). It has been getting progressively worse.

it happens on my 11 inch iPad Pro model number: MTXQ2LL/A not sure what model of apple pencil. My iOS is the latest release. It happened with every iOS the last year or so. Procreate is up to date as well. I have a screen protector, but the problem began well after I had the screen protector and I had no issues with it for years.

has anyone encountered this? Is there a solution? Is the problem with the pencil or my ipad?
