You should receive the confirmation code on the device that has the phone number you are deregistering.

Yes, I was aware of that but did not get a code. (Maybe it's because they're texting it to a phone that can't get texts!:) I think the problem might be with the provider whom I have not been able to get in touch with yet (Telus). I've tried a factory reset on the Samsung with no results. Once again, thanks for responding.
