What exactly happens when you tried to set up your AirTag to your iPhone? Do you receive some type of error? If yes, what error do you get?

Have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if the issue persists? This can sometimes help with minor software issues. Okay. I do know how to count to five...Every time I would change the battery or just try to connect I would make the battery connect and wait for the five connections and the fifth one never sounded different like it was supposed to .I just ignored it until tonight..I decided to see if I could hear a different sound...I do think it took six times. not five...but I am now connected...thanks for everyones help. and maybe this experience will help someone else...
I do not get an error. Just keeps searching for air tag..has no connect and says to pull tab on air tag. I have checked several times that I am following all instructions. I bought a different brand of the battery to avoid the coating on Duracell I read about. I did remove air tag from Find My. Maybe that is the problem. I did follow the instructions of "if you can't set up your air tag..Maybe I will just have to purchase a new air tag. Thanks for your response.....
I have restarted my iPhone..I have done everything I can think of..I have searched Support...think that is how I found this community...I am not quite ready to give up however...thanks for your response...
I thought I would try another battery..I also did an update on my phone tonight...so will try again...thank you..
