I have already rebuilt the account several times. I removed the smart box mail. I recreated it but it doesn't change anything: it always indicates that there is an email to read, which it doesn't show.
Anyone have advice?

We'd be happy to help out. There's a couple of ways you could tackle this issue. The first is by filtering to only show unread emails. You can do this one of two ways. Either by going to View > Filter > Enable Messages Filter and ensure Unread is selected or by tapping on the Filter icon above your Messages list as shown here:
If that doesn't show the unread email for you to view, you can also just right-click or secondary click on the Inbox affected and choose to "Mark All Messages as Read"

However the problem is not solved. As you can see from the screenshot, the smart mailbox marks 1 emaild to read, but it doesn't appear in the view.
I have the same problem under Ventura 13.1. Are you using an Exchange server for the affected mail account? I am and I wonder if that has something to do with it.
