Display sender's email address in "From" column.

How do I set Mac Mail to display sender's email address in the "From" column instead of just the name. I have tried turning "Use Smart Addresses" on and off, and it still won't show the sender's address unless I open the email.

Thank you for responding. I have tried the side panel previously and it appears to be the same as double clicking on an email and opening it, which is what I am trying to avoid. My wife and I got a scam email that appeared to be from a friend of ours and I might of realized it was not legit if the email address had been shown in the "From" column. We do have our emails set to not down load the "additional content," unless we click on it, but that wasn't the problem in this case. Anyway, I guess unless Apple makes a change to display the email address before clicking on the name in the "From" column, it's not going to be possible to do that.

Hey photrain,

You should be able to view the senders email address in the Preview pane. If the email address does not display, you should be able to move your mouse over the senders From name and see a drop down arrow. Clicking on the drop down arrow will display the senders email address as well.

To learn more about Mail app and the viewing options, see Use column layout in Mail on Mac.

Thank you for responding. Your example looks like iOS and not macOS. I am looking for a way to see the email address without clicking on the name. I don't understand why Apple cannot have the Mail app show the sender's email address along with the name in the "From" column. That way I could delete a bogus email without having to click on it and open it.

Display sender's email address in "From" column.
