iPhone won't automatically connect to car Wi-Fi

My iphone used to be able to Auto-Join my car Wifi with SW ver 15, but when i upgraded to SW ver 16, my phone stopped Auto-Join Car Wifi and now I have to connect manually. I do not have any issues auto-joining Home network or any other Auto-Join networks. This seems to only impact my Car Wifi. I have also turned "Private Wi-Fi Address" On and Off and that did not work. Is anyone else seeing this issue with the latest Software release? Thanks!

I struggled with the same issue and I was able to resolve it by creating a configuration profile that tells the iPhone to connect to the Car wifi.

Here is a website that helps to create such a profile:

https://daduckmsft.github.io/WiFiProfileGenerator/

I have selected WPA2, Hidden yes, Auto Join yes. Save the content of the window as some_name.mobileconfig and send it to your iPhone (e.g. by email). Open it and then go to Settings to completed the activation.

Hope that helps someone.

Thanks for that information......I want to try this as I have the same issue on my 2023 Silverado High Country and it's so annoying.

Sorry for my ignorance, but when you say "Save the content of the window as some_name.mobileconfig" how do you do that on a Mac? I tried textedit and it won't allow me to save with that extension.

Thanks.....I hope I can correct this wifi issue.

i had a iPhone 12 and 2021 GMC 2500 Denali and it was doing the same thing, I couldn’t connect to the wifi but I could connect to my sons 2022 Chevrolet TrailBoss, work, and home wifi automatically, I just upgraded my iPhone to a 14 and I just traded my truck for a 2023 Yukon Denali and I’m having the same issues with it, I just got the phone Thursday, and my new Yukon I got Friday and still won’t connect automatically but have no problem connecting with home, work, wife’s car, son’s truck so if anyone has the answer to this mystery/issue/pain in the _ _ _….. please help, TIA have a great day

Mine actually DID auto connect for the first four months, then one day simply stopped. Gone through all the ‘helpful tips’, none have been helpful. Apple and GM need to hire a few rocket scientists to join forces and figure this out. And NO I don’t want this resolved in the new 2024 dashboards alone and leaving us ‘previous generation’ by the side of the road.

Very strange, but obvious issue. I have three kids with three iPads and am constantly distracted driving because they say the “iPad is not working”. It worked fine when we first bought the suburban, but somewhere between 4 months in and upgraded iPads, it no longer connects automatically. If I was going to do it manually, why wouldn’t I just use my hotspot and save $15/month? Btw, my Dell laptop has never had this issue and still does not.

I never said it was an Onstar issue, did I?....

But why would I continue to pay for an Onstar data plan when it does NOT connect to my iPhone automatically?

I honestly don't care if it's an Onstar or Apple issue......it's worthless the way it is and nobody is fixing it.

This issue has been going on for a couple of years, I have little faith Apple or anyone else really cares to fix the issue.

Besides that, Onstar has it's own share of issues with the data plan features, that they also refuse to fix, and their customer service is pitiful at best.

Best thing I did was to cancel the Onstar data plan on my 2023 Silverado High Country and don't look back........I don't need the headaches and it's now a total waste of money IMHO.
