How to block domains when they change the Domain prefix

I keep getting email from a sender that continually changes the first part of the domain, but leaves the ending part the same. An example would be something@randomcharacters.reg.ru where the "randomcharacters" portion continually changes. Is there a way to wildcard that and set a rule to send them to trash before they ever get to your inbox or junk folder? I tried this, but it does not work. @*.reg.ru

Thanks

Yeah I know this but it’s an issue that some users including me are considering leaving because of.

Leaving.... what? Do you mean changing to another email address? If so, it will probably be fine for a while but, over time, you'll start getting more and more spam. It happens to every email address. I have, in the last 10 years worked for both a Fortune 500 company, a small university and a very large university. Even with the enterprise-level filtering these organizations have, spam gets through.

I pointed this out to support and it went in one ear and out the other.

Apple Support can't stop spam. All they can do is agree with you that it's bad and provide you with an explanation of the tools available to deal with it.

If you want a more comprehensive filtering option, I'd recommend Spam Sieve. It's not free but it's very good. I use Gmail (which has it's own issues) but the automated filtering is pretty good.

Hello DAK60,

Since it looks like you're wanting to report emails that are going to iCloud, the steps on this page may offer you the settings you're looking for: Report and block spam in iCloud mail.

Report junk mail
To make sure future messages from the same sender are marked as junk, you can report messages as junk in the Mail app.
• On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, swipe left on the message, tap More, then tap Move to Junk.
• On your Mac, select the message and click the Junk button in the Mail toolbar. Or you can drag the message to the Junk folder in the sidebar.
• On iCloud.com, select the message, then click the Flag button and choose Move to Junk. Or you can drag the message to the Junk folder in the sidebar.

If this page does not offer the settings you're looking for, you can always make suggestions to Apple directly on how to improve their hardware or services. You can do so here: Product Feedback.

Kind regards!

Thank you genieen16. Most of them go to junk today, however I would like to not even have them show up and go directly to trash. So far I have not come up with a way to do that efficiently. It would be nice if Apple would have a method to stop all emails from a sender that is constantly changing the prefix on their email domain. One think they could do is to all the rules and/or email filtering the option of blocking the emails that have a different reply to email assigned. All of these have the same reply to email on them (pro@reg.ru), but their is no option to filter using the reply to email specified on the email header area.

I did use the link above to notify apple of this issue and hopefully they can provide a solution as I get as many as 30-60 emails a day from this reg.ru sender.

I’ve had the same problem for over a month now. Apple support’s only solution is to set a rule to put all .ru emails straight into the bin. I get dozens every day and it’s nothing I’d ever open so I don’t see what the goal is but the emails are nefarious in my view. I asked them to allow me to block all emails from this domain totally by they won’t comply. Why we’re suddenly getting these emails I can’t hazard a guess. I’ve tried communicating with reg.ru but not getting anywhere with that.

Thanks, Jon. Eager to follow your suggestion, I logged in to iCloud Mail but cannot locate a menu button or drop-down list for the Preferences folder.

Kindly walk me/us through the process of finding that folder, then creating the rule. [I can do it on Mail from my iMac, but I seldom access Mail from iCloud.] Thanks, in advance. I too receive ±60 repetitive spam pieces from "reg.ru" daily for the past three weeks. Apple puts them in the Junk folder, however, I must review and sort that folder to determine if anything had been placed there erroneously by Apple, which happens occasionally.
