How's battery health after months of using? Mine is 92% after 7 months.

I have a macbook pro M1 Pro. I bought it in January, 2nd and since then, I noticed the performance and battery life wasn't what I could expect from a M1 Pro.

Apple replaced all internal parts. The performance totally changed but battery life still seemed to be a crap. I accepted it was something I'd be regretted about. In November, I noticed battery health was in 92% after 7 months of use of the new battery.

I'm totally upset about it and Apple Br just told me: I can't do nothing about it. In person, the manager of Apple Store Brazil said that to me.

How come?

In equivalence Br currency to US Dollar, I paid over 4 thousand dollars to be forced to change the battery in less than 2 years.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.0

Temperature variation are usually the biggest factor on batteries.

Too hot or too cold have a negative after on battery life.

Where it be when charging or when running on batteries.

Same goes when shutdown and off.

Stored in the car , backpack with temps too high would qualify too.

Am not a Chemical Engineer but from observation and having read much on these Forums, the chemicals in the battery react badly high heat and where I am in Canada to winter cold

Really appreciate we have focused mostly on temperature variations and storage during that time.

To compare, when my wife and I have travelled for extended stays in South Asia and South East Asia over the past 35 years, the batteries have alway been an issue, not matter how careful.

Good you have compared with another User with same machine and software.

There are other factors that come into the picture.

Empty Disk Space on the drive. The less empty space the harder the Operating System will work to find empty Space.

Generally, keeping 15% to 20% of the Entire Drive Capacity as Empty Space is the best practice.

The software used and installed especially when the Apple Silicon M- Class computer is involved.

Yes, it will run Intel Based coded Applications but below may provide additional insights >>

There are three categories / types of software that can run on the Operations System.

Only Intel Binary Code. This software will invoke Rosetta 2 to translate the Intel binaries so the operating system can understand and execute the Application. The Applications must be 64 Bit to function on Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura

Universal Binary Software.  It contains Both Intel and M1/ M2 ARMs binary code and refer to (  Universal 2 ) When the user installs a 64 bit Application that contains Both Intel and M1 / M2 ARMs binaries - depending on factors, the Operating System may or may not invoke Rosetta 2.

All the above information may have a direct bearing on the Battery Life

Yeah. It happens to my camera’s batteries.

but where I live the temperature get between 10° - 30°. I work at home all the time and I travel, sometimes, so.. when I do, I do by plane. Nothing too hot or too cold.

I have a friend who lives in a neighborhood very close to my who has the MacBook Pro model and he bought it in may, works with the same apps I do and, more or less, the same intensity I work. He sent me an image of his MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 100% battery health. About 6 month of use with 100% and I with 7 months 92%.

He uses it most of the time on charging just as I do.

All my apps and drives and so on are up to date. Including, my mac is running MacOs Ventura.

It has been losing battery health about 1% a week.

Last week of Nov, it had 94% and today, just turned to 91%.

Apple should do something about. I have just 39 cycles and it is just like this. When I get 100 cycles it'll have 60% of health.
