SMART INVERT PROBLEM, 2 IPADOS 16 Installed

Since iPadOS 16 update every time I restart my 2 iPads it switches on SMART INVERT and I have to switch it back off. And every time I take them off sleep mode the screens are in SMART INVERT again but right themselves on their own. This is obviously a glitch in this update and not my 2 iPads. Can someone tell me how to stop this rotten glitch. Hard to understand why Apple hasn’t picked it up since there has now been 2 updates since IPADOS 16. Surely I am not the only one with this problem.

Hi there lbkclb,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. To resolve this issue, go to Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings, and switch off Smart Invert on any app listed there. Next, restart the iPad using the steps from the Apple Support article: Restart your iPad

How to restart an iPad without a Home button

1.Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.

2.Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3.To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

Many thanks for your reply. So easy to rectify but you need to know how. Your instructions were so easy to follow. It has been bugging me since IPADOS 16 update so all back to normal HOORAY! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have the same issue, and followed the fix instructions. I have no apps in the per-app settings and the iPad still gets the smart invert setting toggled to "ON" periodically. I have not been able to reproduce the issue manually, but it still happens, usually overnight.
