MacBook Air M1 not updating to MacOS Ventura (The Package "%@" is missing or invalid.)

Hi, I've been trying to update my MacBook to MacOS Ventura for the past couple of days. every time I download the update, an error pops up saying The Package "%@" is missing or invalid. sometimes, the Download stuck at 12.22 GB and does not do anything. I have tried everything, even turned off firewall, restarted but nothing happened. I need to download softwares but couldn't as the current MacOS BigSur is outdated. Please Help!

You should not upgrade from Big Sur skipping over Monterey to Ventura. Here is how you can upgrade to Monterey first.

Delete the Ventura installer in /Applications/Install macOS Ventura

Click the Monterey 12 link in the support document below:

How to download macOS - Apple Support

Run the /Applications/Install macOS Monterey

If that doesn't work, shutdown the Mac, hold the Shift key down while powering on and keep holding the Shift key down until you get to a login screen. Then let go and login, there will be a second login screen. When you get to the desktop try running /Applications/Install macOS Monterey again.

Once you have Monterey installed, check for updates to make sure you are on 12.6.2. Then you can try installing Ventura via Software Update. It might even install much faster than Monterey did.

Hello RUMA1L,

Those were great steps to try to resolve the issue with upgrading your Mac to macOS Ventura. First you'll want to make sure the download is no longer appearing on your Mac. To check, look in the Applications folder for the macOS installer. Here's how to locate that folder, just in case: Folders that come with your Mac - Apple Support

If you see it there, put it in the Trash and empty the Trash to delete the file. Deleting this file will help to rule out an issue with the file itself. Then use safe mode to try to update again.

Install in safe mode

Install while your Mac is started up in safe mode. To start up in safe mode, determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Intel processor

1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

The above steps can be found in the following guide: If an error occurred while updating or installing macOS - Apple Support

If the behavior continues in safe mode, continue down the list with the other steps found in the above guide with the section "Install after repairing your disk". Let us know if you have questions along the way, and keep us posted on the results.

Take care!
