My macbook pro does not open pdf files what should i do?

Change the Default App for all PDF Documents:

1. Right-Click: on the file
2. Hover: over "Open With >"
3. Select: Other...
4. Select: an app
5. Check: Always Open With
6. Click: Open button

Is the file icon grayed out?

This problem occur to me on my ipad. Not only for pdf but also others files as well.

What I do is transfer the file on my ipad to my iphone via airdrop and transfer it back to my ipad.

After the process, every gray out file become normal and all of them can be opened.
