I recently bought iPad 9th generation with iOS 16. I am trying to wake the screen by resting my finger on the home button and I already activated this feature in settings but, it doesn’t work. Touch ID works fine but not in this. Anyone knows how to solve this.

The way it works is this:
You have to actually click the Home button to wake the screen, then keep your finger rested on the button for Touch ID to read your fingerprint.
iPads that have a Home button work in this way...they cannot sense that you have rested your finger on the Home Button unless it is physically press-clicked.

Under Settings>Accessibility>Home Button is the setting "Rest Finger to Open". This is the key clue.
Notice it says "Rest Finger to Open" and NOT "Rest Finger to Wake".
On devices *without* a Home button, the device is wakened by tapping the screen (since there is no Home button).
On devices *with* a Home button, the device is wakened by clicking either the Home or Top buttons.
If you have Touch ID enabled, enabling the "Rest Finger to Open" setting will read your fingerprint immediately after clicking the Home button. If your finger is already resting on it, the device will read your fingerprint and unlock the device.
