How do I hide my Wi-fi IP address?

This just suddenly started showing up in my Macbook Air. It's annoying and unnecessary! I don't remember changing anything in my Network settings. How do I hide it? I just want the Net connection name to show w/o the address below it. Thanks, in advance.

The display you are showing should appear only when holding the option key while clicking on the Wi-Fi icon.

Clicking on the Wi-Fi icon without holding the option key shows a shorter version of that display.

Tap on the Wi-Fi icon in the upper right corner. See if that causes the display to disappear.

If not, restart the Mac, and try again.

Which one are you trying to hide? There is your MAC address which is your hardware identifier (starts with d4:61: etc) and assigned by Apple and the IP address which is assigned by your service provider and depends on the server being used to route your request to whatever site you want to go to. You need some sort of identification foryou to be able to use the internet.
