Audio stream stops when switching from streaming tab to other tab, but not to separate window

On my Air M1 running Monterey, switching from a Safari tab streaming audio to another tab unvariably stops the audio stream. This is not the case when playing the stream from a dedicated, separate window : switching to another window, and to any tab in that window does not cause the issue so... this is just a habit to take - open a dedicated window for any internet radio. However isn't this precisely NOT why we tend to prefer Apple products where everything is supposed to be smooth (especially when planned obsolescence more or less forces us to buy more every few years). A few years back, another window actually opened itself automatically whenever I clicked "play" on a radio webpage, and it never stopped unless you clicked... "stop". Very convenient. Would any engineer at Apple show their old Walkman to the new teams before they retire ? Cheers,
