iOS 16.2 Battery extreme drain iPhone 11

I installed iOS 16.2 yesterday morning on my iPhone 11. By noon, its charge had crashed to 22%. Recharged. Major drain again, few apps in background. Checked Battery health: 88% max charge. This morning it was 100% charged after overnight charge. Checked it hourly and it dropped 14% per hour. No calls, no internet searches, screen off mostly. Battery app says Screen on 2h35m off 24m. Strange because the screen was off for over two hours while I worked on a project.

I am considering re-installing iOS15.x because it did not drain like this. I relay on iPhone but do not trust it to last all day as before. Not sure what to do. Apple Support said to wait 48 hours as some apps may need to 'adjust' somehow.

Nothing really to consider here, since Apple does not support downgrading iOS.

Good advice. Everything on the iPhone needs to be re-indexed by the operating system and that means a lot of things running in the background for a few days after the update is complete. The battery is working hard overtime until this task is completed. Things should return to normal after 2-3 days or so.

It will take three days to re-index if you have a busy iphone.

Remove any Security or VPN apps and ensure all other apps are up to date.

Check the battery usage chart for obvious battery burner apps
