iCloud stuck on syncing since updating iPhone
This has been stuck like this since I updated the iPhone earlier this evening.
Is there any way to get things moving?
Thanks.

Be certain your iPhone is well charged, and using Wi-Fi (no VPN, no Hotspot).

Not from the information provided. If there are any other pertinent facts, regardless of how insignificant they may seem, perhaps they will help.
About all I can think of is that 100K+ photos does seem exceptionally huge. Be certain there are no storage obstructions - with both iCloud storage and device storage (Settings > General > iPhone Storage should always show a minimum of 6GB free).
I know what you might have done to cause such behavior.
iOS 16.2 introduced Advanced Data Protection for iCloud.
iCloud data security overview - Apple Support
Surely if you enabled this, you would see the behavior you described.
Thanks. I'm on 96%, plugged in, at home on wifi.
Hopefully it'll get moving...
Update: it's been progressing very slowly overnight, now showing as Restoring from iCloud
I'm not sure why it needs to do this all over again, just because one has updated the iOS...
Thanks for the reply. But this started right after updating, so I was just putting 2 and 2 together.
Any idea why it's doing this?
iPhone: 133.6GB of 256GB used
iCloud 1.5TB of 2TB used
Thanks.
I just noticed that in Photos on my iMac, it's also saying Restoring from iCloud.
But I have not changed or touched any settings.
"Restoring from iCloud" is not related to updating iOS.
Something else has been going on.
Those numbers look great - there are no storage obstructions.
Sorry I cannot think of anything else to suggest right now.
