Apple Watch

Interested in getting an Apple Watch for a present. Trying to figure out if the iPhone is compatible (8 or above) but the phone is saying SE?

A second generation or newer iPhone SE will work with the watch. A first generation one will only work with units running an OS version below 9.0.
