+1 in text message indicating I’m texting more than one person

When I text 1 person either apple or android: on their end it shows a plus 1 which I believe it to mean more than one person, WHAT does this mean? I can’t see who the +1 is and neither can recipient.

Phone Model is ____?

Carrier is who?

Verizon has a known issue with their programming on the iPhone 14's.

Another thing that comes to my mind is if you are the plus 1.

You've got your phone number (used for SMS and MMS texts) and also your Apple ID email address (which is used for iMessaging between your Apple device and others). Regardless of these two identifiers, my texts don't show a plus 1 on the recipient's phone and so that's what makes me wonder if it's the Verizon thing going on.

I'm sure that a more knowledgeable user will chime in very soon and we'll both learn more :-)
