Apple Maps with very low resolution satellite images for French Polynesia

Are maps of other locations OK? Satellite images are purchased from imaging companies, and Apple has very little control over quality. And frequently governments specifically request that satellite images of their land or of specific locations in the country (such as military bases or other government property) not be high resolution. How do those same images look on Google Maps or Google Earth?

Report an issue or add a missing place in Maps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1. In the Maps app, scroll down to the bottom of the screen.

2. Tap Report an Issue. From this screen, you can report a street, place, or route issue, add a place to Maps, or report an incident.

3. After you've chosen an issue, follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also edit your favorite places and update your home or work address.

Apple does not create the satellite images. Companies that own satellites (like Digital Globe) create the satellite images. And I can view French Polynesia in Apple Maps. They are not “gone”.

And you should always buy the product that best meets your needs.
