In settings it is asking to confirm Iphone settings? Is it legitimate or trying to hack my phone?

You have to do it more than once because the vulnerability is present more than once.
Apple changed the way that worked because of a recently discovered vulnerability that would allow a hacker to create an unprotected backup of an iOS device without the knowledge of the owner, so Apple add a requirement to always require a passcode to be entered on the phone before backing up to a computer. This to assure that the backup was intentional.

Thank you for the response Lawrence, All of the other phones are operating on the 16.1 or newer and non of them , so far, have requested the confirm iphone passcode. ????
That’s quite strange.
That would be fine if I didn’t have to do it more than once, but that is not the case so far and it’s on multiple devices. Asking more than once on each. After entering my code successfully.
Um, this seems to be a bad way to do it then. Every time I do a backup? I backup automatically daily at least from what I remember.
Same here, and I am in Canada and it says this feature is not available to this country yet.

It just happened to me as well. If it is a hack I couldn’t figure out how it would be able to go straight to my pass code screen
Same happened to me a few times on my iPad.
Yes, it happened twice in my case, and it’s disturbing that Apple is not forthright with whatever they are doing!
So I keep getting this over and over again every couple of days. Should this be a one time thing or am I going to have to keep confirming my passcode?
I guess it’s legit. I just wish it would quit asking me. It’s asked me like five times now. I enter my passcode everytime. It needs to quit asking.
I’m getting the same prompt every few days on my iPhone now, iOS 16.3.1, Advanced Data Protection disabled. Getting quite annoying.
