My daughters and I share the same apple identity? How do we separate without her losing everything in the iCloud ?

My daughter and I somehow share the same identity under the family planning. How can she get her own without losing contacts/I cloud pictures?

If you are sharing an Apple ID, you are defeating Family Sharing entirely. Family Sharing works for people with different Apple IDs.

Anyway, you will need to choose who gets a new Apple ID separate form the one you are currently using.

That person will need to log off of the Apple ID, create a new one, and log in with it on their devices.

When logging out of iCloud, it will request wether you want to keep iCloud data on the device. You will need to answer Yes for this. Once you log in to the new Apple ID and turn on iCloud it will sync everything up to the new cloud account.

Hi rkk46,

From https://appleid.apple.com/faq/

"Can I share an Apple ID with someone else?

Your Apple ID should not be shared with anyone else. It provides access to personal information including contacts, photos, device backups, and more. Sharing your Apple ID with someone else means you are giving them access to all your personal content and may lead to confusion over who actually owns the account. To share iTunes & App Store purchases, photos, a calendar, and more with someone else, try Family Sharing [https://support.apple.com/HT202786], iCloud Photo Sharing [https://support.apple.com/HT202786], or other easy-to-use sharing features."

One of you needs to create a separate ID if you do not already. What you say about "under the family planning" (which I take to mean you are using Family Sharing) implies you already have separate IDs.

Merging Apple accounts (IDs) or transferring data is not officially supported, nor can it be done easily or completely. Read the links below for things you may need to do to transfer as much as is possible. Unfortunately Contacts cannot be shared with Family Sharing but you can export them and import them

iCloud things are Apple ID specific so you will have to find ways to export them to a universally accessible location and then re-import them to the new ID.

Look into using Family Sharing to continue to be able to use items purchased with one Apple ID with other Apple IDs.

If you have signed into the ID on two devices then fortunately when you sign out of one ID and sign in with a different one it asks you in most cases if you wish to retain the data from it on your device. Say yes and then delete individual items you do not want.

If another Apple ID is signed in you may need to enter the password for that ID to sign out of that ID first.
