iOS 16 and Bluetooth connectivity to hearing aids

My mothers iPad was updated to the latest iOS by a ‘helpful’ neighbour - problem is that for the first time her iPad does not recognize her hearing aids - I have repaired the aids with the iPad and it worked in the moment but when she returned later in the day to listen to her audiobook, there was no automatic reconnection to the hearing aids. This never happened with IOS 15 but is now a problem for elderly and visually impaired - forgetting the device and re establishing connection is not an viable option. Is there a patch or fix coming? Thanks

I understand how frustrating the changes to iOS effect our Bluetooth hearing aids. This may sound strange but doing a "Reset Network Settings" may fix your issue. Bluetooth is a network and can have issues after an iOS update. Here is a link to an Apple Support document to assist you: Return iPad settings to their defaults - Apple Support

Do not let the title throw you. In the document you will only be doing "Reset Network Settings". Read the instructions because you will have to set up her WiFi again as well.

Thanks for your assistance. I will try this out when I return to their home later this week - they live an hour away from me which makes it even more frustrating when she has connectivity issues - she’s fairly computer literate but at 91 with visual and hearing impairments nothing is too easy. I will send the thumbs up if this works. Thanks again
