Photo backup on Google to allow space on iphone

I am going to get a new iPhone. I currently am backing up on iCloud as well as Google photos. Taking tons of space! Do I need iCloud at all if I have Google photos backing up? Can I merge my Apple albums with my Google ones?

iCloud backups and iPhone backups I went to look at my iCloud and have noticed a couple of things with my photos. In Settings > iCloud, my Photos app is set to On (I assume this means it’s backing up to iCloud). If I then go to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Backup > iPhone, this says I have 30.98 GB to backup. When I click this iPhone backup, it shows that 29.91 GB are in “Photo Library”. My phone wont back up as there is no space. If I turn off my library, will I lose all my photos when I purchase a new phone? Do I need to have this turned on in order to access my photos if I got a new iphone? What is the difference between this “Photo Library” and the previously mentioned “Photos” app from the previous pages? Can I turn one off to make the backup size smaller?

Is there a way to manually backup only some photo albums in iCloud? I am almost reaching my storage limit on my iPhone and eager to know my options. I have plenty of storage in my iCloud, but I haven't turned on the sync option for photos. That's because I always had my photos on Google photos earlier and continuing to sync to that. Also, I am hesitant to enable sync on both services together, as I have read about several issues that people face when they try to sync to both iCloud and Google photos. Now, without still enabling the entire photos sync with iCloud, is there a way for me to manually backup only certain albums to iCloud and then get them back on phone later when I need? It would be awesome if that's possible. Thanks in advance.

Where are my photos when I backed up my iPhone? I had 8,000 photos I’m trying to back up my photos in Icloud and I only have 200 photos and it says there is no space!!!! Where are the other photoos [Re-Titled by Moderator]

iCloud is a sharing serve, not a back up. Only you can decide if you need iCloud and Google Photos, No one else can make that decision for you. No, there is no way to merge your 'Apple albums' with Google ones.
