iCloud advanced data protection problem

I have an iCloud family plan. One of the ephors in the plan belongs to a family member who lives out of my house. All of the phones and Macs are updated to the latest OS but the device that is not in my house in not registering as updated. Therefore I can not turn on Advanced Data Protection.

Is there anything I can do or is this just a known problem?

thanks

Hey Crotonmark,

To confirm, one family member isn't able to be added to iCloud+. If that is correct, make sure that Family Sharing is enabled by following the steps below or in this article: Share iCloud+ with your family.

In iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 or later:

1. If you haven't set up Family Sharing yet, set up Family Sharing
2. Go to Settings > Family.
3. Tap Subscriptions.
4. Tap iCloud+.
5. Follow the steps to share your existing plan.
6. Use Messages to let any family members with an existing iCloud+ plan know that they can now switch to your shared iCloud+ plan.

In iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or earlier:

1. If you haven't set up Family Sharing yet, set up Family Sharing
2. Go to Settings > [your name].
3. Tap Family Sharing.
4. Tap iCloud+.
5. Follow the steps to share your existing plan.
6. Use Messages to let any family members with an existing iCloud+ plan know that they can now switch to your shared iCloud+ plan.

Take care.
