How can I block SMS being sent from an IP address and no phone number?

I keep receiving messages from some unknown company that I cannot block. On my iPhone (iOS 15.7.1 iPhone 7) there is no phone number to call and then block as the call option is greyed out once I go into the ‘i’ menu of the sender. On the other hand, on my iPad Pro (iPadOS 14.8.2 12.9 2017, wifi only) when I go into the same “i’ menu of the sender, there is an option to call or FaceTime, of which neither works. It comes up with “loading…” and never connects.

The messages are obviously being sent from an IP address and not a phone number. Surely there must be a way to block this kind of intrusion? But how??

Hello snufbox,

If you're not seeing the option to block the sender, we recommend reaching out to your cellular provider to see if they have options from their side. Just in case, more information about blocking contacts can be found here: Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

All of that information that is in the provided link mentions nothing about how to block someone who does not have a contact number or sending address.

I don’t understand how someone can send me a message without any contact information but I cannot block them. Like I mentioned initially, the message seems as though it is being sent from an IP address and there does not seem to be a solution to block this through the Apple iOS/iPadOS ecosystem.
