shortcuts in IOS 15.1

I am having problems writing new shortcuts. Can someone explain how to write a shortcut with a single parameter for example to Napping (at) to call it by saying to Siri: Napping 40 to start the timer in 40?

when I try

Start timer for

Duration minutes

it fails when called by Siri...

Also, is there any set of shortcut examples which can be trusted to use? Besides examples, a good description of the Shortcuts would really help (many examples on the Internet are for old versions...)

Perhaps because you're tapping the Minutes parameter field? ...If so, Touch & Hold that Minutes parameter field.

what could be a reason that a shortcut e.g. M1 works when clicked on the screen but when called through Siri "Hi Siri M1" then Siri is just showing up circling and then exits?

Does "Hey Siri" work for other shortcuts?

...If it does, post a screenshot of the M1 shortcut to see if I can reproduce the problem.
