What effect will turning on my old iPhone have on my iCloud account? I would like to use it as a second phone, but do not want any confusion re my data/emails/texts between the 2 iPhones. (I think it's a 6s). I just want another telephone line for voice communication (since I no longer have a landline!). The old iPhone no longer has a SIM card.
iPhones are cellular only.
It will require you to have a account and sim card from a cellular carrier.
I don't know of any cellular carrier that has call only plans for a smart phone.
If you don't want it to receive messages or email from your account, set up a new Apple ID and don't set up immessage or email.

Sounds like mission impossible.
You need a subscription for a landline telephone. You cannot connect your 'old' iPhone to the connection for a landline telephone.
You need an RJ11 cable to Lightning to connect your old iPhone.
The question remains does the old iPhone meet the requirements to be used as a landline phone.
