I can’t delete files on iCloud

For some reason when I delete a file in my iCloud/Downloads folder on my iMac the file just reappears. The folder works fine on my other iOS devices. It’s JUST the iMac. So basically that folder on my iMac is getting huge. Can anyone help me figure out why? It’s SO frustrating. My software version is current.

Hey keredwin,

Are you deleting your files from iCloud.com or from your iMac only? If you delete it from your iMac but have iCloud enabled, it will restore them back onto the iMac.

To completely delete files, follow this step: In iCloud Drive on iCloud.com, select the files you want to delete, then click the Delete button the Delete button in the iCloud Drive toolbar.

Also, note:

Files you delete from iCloud Drive are recoverable for 30 days, but you can remove deleted files before the 30-day time period is up. See Recover deleted files on iCloud.com and Permanently remove deleted files on iCloud.com.
Note: Files in the Recently Deleted folder don’t count toward your iCloud storage.

We hope this information helps!
