Anyone? Everyone I know that has AirPods Pro, they run at 48kHz. Why are mine at 44.1?

This isn't my question.

I ran into the same issue and found a resolution, so I wanted to respond to the original poster in thread, but apple only gave me the option to ask another question.

Hopefully KyleLMann has already found a resolution.

In case anyone else runs into the same issue, see below:

Why did this happen?

I can't say for sure what the cause is, but I was able to reproduce the issue by:

  • Changing the format to 44.1 kHz on a custom device (aggregate device or multi-output device) that uses my airpods.
  • For that same custom device, selecting "Use This Device For Sound <Input or Output>"

How do I fix it?

  • Update the format for every audio device listed in Audio Midi Setup to 48.0 kHz.
  • For a custom device that has the airpods selected as the Primary Device, you may not be shown the 48.0 kHz option until you select a different device as the Primary Device. In that case, select a different device as the Primary Device before updating the format for the custom device to 48.0 kHz.
  • Once all audio devices are set to 48.0 kHz, the airpods should "fix" itself and revert back to 48.0 kHz.
