Apple Watch series 5

I have an Apple series 5. I just purchased an iphone13. My issue(s) are these. I cannot seem to figure out why my watch will not ding when I get a text message. It will ring with an incoming call. If my phone is locked or on silent, my watch only vibrates upon incoming texts. Upon receiving incoming calls, again with the phone on silent, the watch will ring. It also dings with notifications. Should I be able to have the watch ding upon incoming texts? Also, the watch used to make a click sound when I entered my passcode, now it does not. I have searched the web and found things like I have the watch in silent mode. I have tried mirror phone and custom. I sure could use some assistance. I know the watch used to ding with incoming text messages. Please help…Thank you
