We are trying to watch spirited on our Roku but it is giving me an error message. It will let us watch other shows or movies on appletv but not spirited

anyone experience this issue? Roku is connected to internet signed up for appletv after adding the app on the Roku. Load Apple TV to watch spirited but it says this video is not available. I tried to watch a different movie and it loads right up picked a different show, it too loaded right up and started playing. All Roku/apps are up to date wifi signal is fine but it saying to check my internet connection. Another show “servant” also gives the same error but just about every other movie or show we try loads right away and begins playing.

I just faced this same issue. I have a Pixel 5a5g and it would play on my phone but not on the Apple TV app on Roku. I deleted the app and reinstalled it after doing a system update on my Roku and that did not work. The Roku and the App were up to date.

However, as strange as this may be here is what worked for me. I opened a chrome browser on my phone and logged into my appleid.apple.com account. My phone was on the same network as the Roku. In my account I went under devices and confirmed my roku was showing. I left myself logged int my applied account and then went back to the Roku Apple TV app, tried spirited again and it worked. Really strange. I wonder if you have to be logged into your apple id account on the same network as the Roku for this to work. Try it and let me know if that works. So log into your apple id account, leave it logged in and try the movie again. Be curious if it does work for anyone else.

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities CarlAK907,

We can certainly understand your concern and see you came to us from the article If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app.

We recommend checking out these steps for more information on what to do if you're having issues streaming or watching movies on the Apple TV app.

" Update to the latest version of the Apple TV app

Update to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, macOS, or tvOS.

If you're using a compatible smart TV, streaming device, or gaming console that's connected to the internet, the Apple TV app should update automatically. If you need help, you can contact the manufacturer or learn how to get the Apple TV app on your device.

If the movie or TV show won't start playing

After each step, try to stream or download the movie or TV show again.

  1. Check the System Status page for service interruptions or check a third-party provider's website for any interruptions. If there are service interruptions, try to stream or watch the video later.
  2. If you're having trouble signing in with your Apple ID, you can reset your Apple ID password or learn how to get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication.
  3. If your cellular connection is poor, connect to Wi-Fi instead.*
  4. Try watching on a different device using the same Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If it doesn't work, contact your internet service provider to see if there's an issue with your network.
  5. If other people are using Apple TV+ or Apple TV channels, make sure it doesn't exceed the limits for streaming on multiple devices.

* Make sure that your Wi-Fi router is 802.11a/g/n/ac compatible. Streaming HD content requires 8 Mbit/s or faster. Slower tiers of Wi-Fi connections might not be fast enough to stream HD video content. "

I did all of that and still video not available. I can watch it on my phone on the exact same wifi network but not on the Roku. Why doesn’t that work? Why would only select content not work? If most of the content works, why not all of it? Any of it working confirms that everything is technically working on my end. So why can’t I stream this specific movie??? …update…I’m streaming this from my phone to my Roku, both are on the same wifi network. This is not an end user problem. This is an apple and Roku problem. They need to fix it and stop wasting our time with their generic troubleshooting response.
