video not available error on appletv app on Roku

The AppleTv app is playing using Roku. Some shows can be played but others get a message saying "Video not available..There's a problem loading this video. If this continues, check your internet connection". These same episodes can be played by another family member on the family account using AppleTV. We can also play these episodes on a laptop and at the Ipad app. We reinstalled and updated the AppleTV app on Roku. The video troubleshooting on AppleTV said it couldn't find any problems. What else can we try?

Ah, the joys of modern technology, right? Where everything is supposed to "just work" but sometimes it's more like "just doesn't work for no apparent reason." Love it. Kudos for checking out the basics: reinstalling, updating, and even doing a bit of self-diagnosis with the AppleTV's troubleshooting. You get points for not throwing your Roku out the window. Yet.

So you're dealing with the dreaded "Video not available" error while your family member is lounging around streaming the same stuff with zero issues? That's the sort of injustice you just can't stand for, am I right?

1. **Network Shenanigans:** Even though AppleTV's troubleshooting shrugged its virtual shoulders, have you tried restarting your router? Because as we all know, routers have bad days too.

2. **Roku Restart:** Speaking of restarts, did you reboot the Roku device itself? Yeah, I know it sounds like "have you tried turning it off and on again," but hey, sometimes clichés are true.

3. **Location, Location, Location:** Are you and the other family member located in the same region? Sometimes content is region-specific, and even though you're on the same account, if one of you is jet-setting, you might not have access to the same library.

4. **Settings Overload:** Take a tour of both your Apple TV and Roku settings. Sometimes settings get funky without your consent. Make sure all the basics like video resolution match between your AppleTV and Roku. A disparity might cause the streaming gods to frown upon you.

5. **Cache and Data:** Roku has an option to clear its cache, although it's like a secret Easter egg hunt to find it. You can give it a try. Navigate to the Home screen, press the following buttons on your Roku remote: Home 5 times, Up, Rewind 2 times, Fast Forward 2 times. Fingers crossed it does something useful.

6. **Software Dance:** Are both the Apple TV app and the Roku firmware on their latest versions? Because one being up-to-date and the other being older could cause issues.

7. **Check the Chokepoints:** Sometimes, just sometimes, an HDMI cable or port can act up. Try switching those out just to rule out the hardware angle.

If none of these hacks resolve your personal streaming crisis, you may have to escalate this up the chain to Apple or Roku customer service.
