Wallpaper is suddenly blurry

I just plugged my iPhone into my iMac to charge and it suddenly blurred my wallpaper (!)

Any idea why it's done this? This has never happened before... how can it be fixed?

iPhone X, iOS 16

Hi there Abstractman23,

We'll need some clarification in order to help. Is the wallpaper blurred on your iPhone or your iMac? Try restarting both devices to see if that helps:

Restart your iPhone

Shut down or restart your Mac

Also, you'll want to be sure both devices are updated to the latest software version, which are iOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1. If needed, learn how to update your devices using the links below:

Update macOS on Mac

Update your iPhone or iPad

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

We appreciate the update and welcome back Abstractman23,

If you're unable to install the macOS update, this article outlines the troubleshooting steps you can take to address this alert: If an error occurred while updating or installing macOS

"Install in safe mode

Install while your Mac is started up in safe mode. To start up in safe mode, determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
  3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
  4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
  2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window."

Regarding your iPhone wallpaper, does this only occur when charging your iPhone with your iMac? When unplugging your iPhone from the iMac, does the wallpaper revert back to normal?

We hope this helps you.

Take care!
