I just got a new MacBook for Christmas, there is a user already logged in that is not me.

mystery user on my new macbook The login screen on my newly arrived 2021 macbook has three users: me, guest, and someone/something named "caspermanage" - who is that??? Is it normal for an unused macbook to arrive with another user with his/its own identity, password and so on? It even came with its own personal graphic - the head of a bald eagle. I did do an automatic migration of data before the macbook gave me the chance to login, but I only transferred my own data and apps. As the administrator of my new macbook I know I can delete this "caspermanage" account, but I'd rather figure out what's going on first. Thanks!

Unknown user in Sharing & Permissions Hi, I have discovered an unknown user (wheel with Read only privileges) in the Sharing & Permissions info window of iMac, 24-inch, M1, 2021 running Ventura 13.2.1. Logged in as System, when I attempt to remove this account, a pop up says "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have the necessary permission." What's going on?

My mac says there is an authorised computer to my account but doesn't allow me to de-authorise it So i have had this long-standing concern that there is unauthorised access to my MacBook. It looks like there is an admin account to which I am a subsidiary user. In most cases, i am unable to make changes to my account such as de-authorising a user from my iTunes account or even accessing normal information. I am able to click on important Mac hyperlinks on my system but it never allows access. Currently, i am trying to de -authorise my account, it initially said that there were 2 accounts authorised, i am able to de-authorise my immediate account but it does show that there is another one, which i am unable to access to de-authorise. can anyone explain how this is ?

Seems like this is not a "brand new" computer since a brand new Mac will greet the user with Setup Assistant to allow you to configure & customize macOS including creating the first macOS user account for new owner. Many computer refurbishers will use the "User" login for refurbished computers because it is generic and usable by anyone. Refurbishers create a user account in order to make sure the OS is updated and to install third party apps and customize settings for people.
