Moving files to ICloud

I have I cloud which I do not know much about. So I have a situation here as my downloads folder has way to much stuff in it. My first thought was to MOVE all the files I do not want in Downloads folder to another folder on my external drive.

First thing I notice is it only COPIES the files which comment sense tells me I would have to delete the original files from my downloads folder.

But then I see in the folder I'm COPYING to the circle and arrow with grayed out files as I believe these files are ALSO being copied to iCloud am I right.

Just want to make sure before I delete files not mean't to be deleted AND how to see what files ARE on the cloud. Any help?

Hi there dagwaremedia,

Thank you for posting to Apple Support Communities.

We understand you have a question about iCloud Drive. Here are a couple articles that can help explain what is expected when using iCloud Drive:

Access and manage your files in iCloud Drive

Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive

If you want to see which files are synced with iCloud Drive, you can see them at www.icloud.com. If you delete a synced file, it will delete from all of your devices.

That should help. Let us know if you have any questions.

Take care.
